Alligators, Everywhere
New song is out now
Alligators. Everywhere? What?
Swap Meat - “alligators, everywhere”
Nostalgia Can Be A Nasty Beast - “alligators overwhelmed the sewers”
All Smiles - “feed the alligators until its all dead”
Why? I don’t know. I don’t owe you an answer.
Congrats to you, though! We just released a new song called “All Smiles.” We really like this song a lot. It’s been really fun to play live. It’s 2 minutes. Quick. Banger. Boom. I’m linking to all the streaming sites cause I legit have no idea if we’re supposed to be promoting Spotify anymore. Regardless, go stream wherever you listen to music (statistics show that you aren’t going to go listen, by the way…)
The song is about…. ugh, here we go again… it’s about watching a friend do something you don’t think they should be doing. About watching them make choices that are NOT good for them. Throwing away good things in life for whatever reason. “Had a bad habit of eating teeth…” is a reference to ones ability to get punched in the mouth over and over by the same person.
Lyrics
“Saving grace wasn’t ever enough. What’s the point if you just throw it away. I see a man that’s torn to shreds. Feed the alligators til it’s all dead.
Alligators, everywhere.
Lie after lie can’t keep ‘em straight. Getting second chances just to salvage face. Live or die just playing with fate. Hedging every bet just to plead your case
Alligators, everywhere.
Had a bad habit of eating teeth. Swallowing the past in search of peace.
I’m eating teeth”
We have two more songs coming out on the EP. “Jeremiah 11:11” and “With Love and Courage.” I believe J11:11 is coming in December. It’s probabllllllly our biggest sonic departure yet. And then WL&C comes out in January or February. Hopefully we end up with more songs by then. Maybe we’ll do another EP.
Oh oh oh, alligators. Sorry, got distracted. “Swap Meat” was one of the first songs we wrote in 2019. It was heavily inspired by the Alex Garland movie “Annihilation.” The movie heavily features a mutant alligator so I just kinda tossed that phrase in the song. “Annihilation” deals with the idea of self-destruction… purposefully throwing away good things. Inflicting pain upon yourself cause maybe you don’t think you deserve it. The alligator motif fit in our serious yet playful lyrical style so I kept bringing it back in new songs. A fun little through-line so to speak.
