AND THE OSCAR GOES TO....

I love movies. I love the Oscars. I love the pageantry. I’m a sucker for All-Star games. I’m a sucker for anything to do with awards and people winning and paying tribute to things they love. It’s all meaningless but it’s fun to think it matters. 

I have vivid memories of the 96’, 97’ Oscars. Watching as a kid. Seeing Titanic win. Watching clips of actors acting their butts off. Something stuck. Shout out 2012 when Mondo (a limited edition poster company…) did an amazing Oscar night drop. They randomly released posters for the nominated films throughout the night and my mother in law, wife and I were all on computers refreshing during the telecast. Good memories. 

I loved the mTV Movie Awards. We used to live in a proper society.

I love rad freaking movies getting recognized. One Battle After Another, Sinners, Jesse Buckley, Michael B Jordan, Weapons, K Pop Demon Hunters! Lets go! The movies this year were really good. Felt, to me, like the previous few Oscars were off. Including but not limited to the 2020 and 2021 where the amount of movies dwindled. The slap. A couple other oddities. Regardless, I loved it. Shout out to my mom who watched Sinners but didn’t know it had vampires and said WHAT THE HECK to me the day after watching. Haha. 

So happy PTA got his Oscars. Dude deserves. Regardless of how you feel, that dude has an amazing filmography. Processing the last 25 years, he and Tarantino and Fincher are probably the 3 most important filmmakers TO ME and my movie sensibilities. 

Side Note: Sean Penn skipped the Oscars to visit with the Ukrainian prezzy. Wild chain smoking maniac. I wish Poppa Skarsgard or Delroy or Benecio woulda won but Sean Penn crushed in OBAA. 

The Undertaking! won an award once. We were the 2022 Upcoming artist or whatever for The Red Herring Twitter Year End awards. I don’t think we lived up to that. Whoops! 

I think that’s the only award we’ve ever received. A Twitter award for Best Upcoming Band. 

MOVIES AND TV: I’m out on a lot of current shows. Been a bit dry since Industry and AKOTSK aired. So I’ve been rewatching some stuff. Fargo, Sicario, The Nice Guys, Blade Runner 2049, Superbad, Funny People, Crazy Stupid Love. I put on Arrival last night but fell asleep before they entered the space ship. 

ALBUM UPDATE: Guys… we’re back. We demo’d vocals. There’s 4 songs with vocals. 6 more to go. Stoked to get the ball rolling again. Whatever that sickness was ripped through my whole extended family. WOULD LOVE to have a couple songs ready for the summer. Album soon y’all. Album soon.
