Where do we turn when life’s noise gets to be too much? Politics, war, Padres’ sustained mediocrity, inflation. All of its just too much sometimes. And this weekend, I found the ultimate respite. Freakin’ Bluey. Freeeeeakin’ Bluey, y’all. 

For those unfamiliar, Bluey is an Australian cartoon on Disney Ploos that stars an anthropomorphic blue heeler and her parents and sister. Each episode is around 7 minutes and tackles all types of adventures, problems and situations. Think of it… like Seinfeld for kids (and adults). But it’s dogs. And they’re Australian. And it’s AWESOME. 

And the truth is the shows absolutely amazing. My boys (11 and 9) both watched it when it came out but its become an obsession in our house again as our daughter (4) has been watching it on and off the past couple years. Her favorite show bounces between Paw Patrol, Super Kitties and YooHoo To The Rescue (thank God we are done with Cocomelon….) and she’s been on a Bluey kick lately. It’s important because some of the kid’s shows these days are so nonsensical but when Bluey is on, everyone’s attention slowly drifts towards the episode. Like the pied piper. No joke. Theme song starts and Ivy gets real interested. Henry slowly drops his iPad and starts watching the show and slowly but surely Jack crawls out from his room/cave and sits on the couch. And the best part about Bluey is the smiles and laughter it produces. It might be one of the biggest sources of joy my household regularly experiences. 

So yea, I don’t know. Maybe you don’t like joy, but if you do, go watch some Bluey. It’s very worth your time.

Jurassic Park World: Rebirth

New Jurassic Park made a bunch of money (good!) but it kinda sucked (not good!). Your mileage may vary, It might rule, but I was let down by… everything? I realllllly enjoyed the new season of the Bear. Legit don’t care if you didn’t. I love spending time with those characters.
