COMIC WARPED CON TOUR

And a brand new song

We sit and wait for something cool to happen and then bang, we get a Better Lovers show offer and then we decide to release a song and then we also have another show this week too and then it was also comic con and warped tour and dang, we’re busy again!

Today’s newsletter is going out Tuesday, July 29. The same day as our Better Lovers, Hong Kong F*ck You, Lockslip show. Wish up luck.

We also released “If You’re So Rich, Why Aren’t You Smart?” If you didn’t listen to it at least 5 times this weekend… what the heck?!? Next song is scheduled for the beginning of September.

SAN DIEGO COMIC CON!

Guys, I love SDCC so much. Is it fun? NO! Is it worth going? PROBABLY NOT! Then why go? CAUSE IT’S AWESOME. I get overwhelmed with pride when comic con comes around. Hundreds of thousands of people come into the best city in the world (San Diego, duh) for the weekend and we get to show off how beautiful our city is. It’s so sick! I’ve been going on and off since high school. My older sister used to work for the Padres so we would get our passes through them. We used to be able to walk into Hall H and see a Batman Begins panel like it was a local San Diego show at (insert dive bar) (aka… no ones there). Now you gotta camp outside to get a glimpse of Downey Jr in a Doom mask.

Anyways, it’s chaos and super busy. I don’t buy much anymore, but it’s still fun to walk around and see all the stuff. We’ve made comic con friends over the years and you get to see them in passing. My boys go now which is also SICK. On Sunday, my 9 year old bought two massive swords. Love that for him.

It’s the old Hollywood allure that keeps me going to comic con. I saw (written from memory) Thomas Middleditch, Jim Cummings (the voice of Winnie the Pooh), the voice cast of X-Men, Michael Biehn, some of the other Aliens marines, Alec Baldwin, Fluffy (comedian guy?), a 15 foot tall Galactus cosplay. In previous years, I’ve walked by Sir Patrick Stewart, Ozzy Osborne (RIP), Nicole Kidman, Jason Mamoa, Johnny Depp’s ex-wife, Rey and Fin from The Force Awakens, the dude who plays all of del Toro’s monsters. It’s fun. I enjoy it. Come hang out one year. Definitely worth the trip downtown at least once. Til Next Year, SDCC.

Warped Tour Review (by Dan)

Admittedly, this was my first Warped Tour. I never went when I was a kid because either had no ride, no money, or no friends. No time was quickly added to that list. So maybe I’m not the guy who should be talking about my experience there. But here I am, a guy talking about my Warped experience.

This new iteration of Warped Tour was a 2 day festival in Long Beach, Ca. Every stage was broken up into two stages that would ping-pong off of each other. One set ends, the next begins on the stage next store. This meant the music almost never stopped. The stage crews deserve every ounce of credit,  everything ran so smoothly.

The place was packed and for the first time in my life, I think that was a good thing. It led to amazing moments where you’d be walking through the festival and hearing everyone singing the same song at the top of their lungs. It was wild. Whether it was Move Along, Check Yes Juliet, Swing Life Away or that Sublime song I don’t know the name of, the energy was incredible.

The quickest review of bands I saw:

Ice-T/Body Count - legendary, no notes.

Enter Shikari - the most feel good politically charged set I’ve ever seen.

Mariachi El Bronx - if I only saw this set, I would have left happy.

Better Lovers - nobody does it like them. You should probably come see em tonight.

Barbarians of California - the first band in forever to literally rattle my ribcage.

Every artist seemed to genuinely be stoked to be playing Warped again. Overall it was a great time. Even if I’m sunburnt and my lungs are full of pit dust.

Go listen to our song. Our next song is coming soon. Join our discord. Buy merch.

Rock N Roll will never die.
