And what that means - its not that hard
First things first - we announced our little runner with Idle Threat and Meadows. This has been something we’ve tried to do for about 5 years. We love both of these bands and we’re so down for the hangs. IF you’re planning on coming to a show, please consider buying a ticket before hand.
We’ll keep things rolling with Idle Threat as long as they’ll have us.
This was a pretty simple run to put together. Nice when it’s easy.
Things of note - first time in Florida. First time near Atlanta. First time in South Carolina. Very stoked.
Second - can’t NOT bring up Andy Williams. What a tragic event. Devastatingly tragic. If you’re not familiar, Andy Williams, the legendary guitarist from Every Time I Die, passed away this weekend after collapsing at a wrestling event. Your social feed has for sure been flooded with his images and stories. So sad.
I didn’t know him. Never met him. Only talked to him once outside of PETCO Park, in passing. But dang, The Undertaking! would not exist without Andy’s influence, vibe and personality. Just straight fact. Dude had a huge impact on me and the band. I feel inspired seeing the outpouring of love and the stories being shared about what kinda dude he was. Let’s all be better, yea?
RIP Andy. Gonna be listening to ETID a bunch this week.
Side note - “hey Austin, why don’t you guys say something about Andy on social media? A lot of people did.”
Well, we didn’t know him. And there’s an opportunity for a lot of bands to exploit their story or connection to him. Like, hypothetically, you could write up and share a story about how he showed up in your music video, but really, you’re just telling people to listen to your music. NOW, I’m not condemning that action. Not at all. But I’m not sure I believe the people who weren’t particularly close to Andy should be sharing some of that stuff so soon. I don’t know. I’m probably wrong.
The band in general has always tried not to exploit anything. Would be very easy to claim spirituality as a guiding principle of ours, regardless of some of our spiritual relationship, and exploit the Christian adjacent blogs and online influencers. That’s not what we’re about.
Random note, but important to us. Last thing about it, post whatever you want. I don’t care. Some stuff just feels icky.
Band Updates - not expecting many more shows than what we have announced at the moment. We’re working really hard on the songs we’ve got cooking.
MOVIES: Onslaught was rad. Ex-military sniper must defend her kid from 3 escaped-super-soldiers who are rampaging through the New Mexican desert. SICK.
Lanterns is good! Hope you like it.
Hope you enjoyed labor day.
