The Black Hole That Comes For Us All

After releasing music

First things first, I’m gonna speed run some stuff about the songs we just released. Second, we. (the Undertaking!) are all staring into the black hole/void that appears after we release music. The feeling of dread that no one likes our music. The feeling of depression that’s its all meaningless. But then you are at a Norma Jean show and the guy next to you says “hey man - your new EP is rad!” And I’m like “heck yea.” That’s cool. Thanks Jake from San Diego.

Speed Run - go!

  • We were gonna try to release an album this year but obviously didn’t make that happen. We pivoted to a 5 song EP. It rules. I’ve had that artwork for 2+ years. I’ve had that name for 3+ years. Glad to get them outta my head. Time to move on. Haha. Same with “eating teeth” and a couple other lyrics. Empty out the tank so we can fill it back up.

  • Physical media: Charon Collective is going to make CDs. More news soon. We’ll probably rip some cassettes on the downlow/lowfidelity side. Probably no vinyl. It costs too much.

  • Hopefully you listened to the EP. It’s really good.

  • I’ve said it a couple times, but we did it all ourselves. No outside help was used to write, record, produce, mix, master, etc. Truly DIY. Truly unstoppable. If a label called and said they wanted the songs…. We’d stop being DIY in a heartbeat, but unfortunately, no labels wanted our music. Of the 20+ labels I sent it out to… uh… zero replied to my messages. Hahahahahahahahah.

  • Still chuckling about the labels thing. No one wants us on their label. Best band in the world though. Best EP you listened to this year. Can-do attitude babbbbbbby.

  • I can’t tell if the EP is a success yet. We think it’s our best material but we’ll see how people respond in the upcoming weeks.

  • 100p serious about writing an album next. We feel it’s necessary for the band. Not sure why, but it feels necessary.

  • Shows:  December 19 at Brick by Brick. Buy your tickets.

  • Norma Jean: saw them Sunday night. They ruled. Such a solid band.

That’s all I have today. Come back next week for some year end highlights. Thanks for listening.
