Three Quarters

Football: There’s an adage like “that’s why you play 4 quarters.” 

Money: Three quarters is 75 cents. Not a dollar. 75 cents doesn’t get you anything anymore. 

Me: Here’s my year end list. I’m just playing three quarters. Imagine the year ends today. Below are some of my fav things I’ve watched and/or listened to this year. 

MOVIES

The Odyssey. Spider-Man BND. The Bone Temple. Project Hail Mary. Mother Mary. Onslaught. 

Been a great year for movies, in my opinion. Highest summer box ever. Factors in inflation, but that’s cool, I guess. (Oh, those aren’t ranked in any order). I need to see Obsession and Backrooms. Looking forward Resident Evil, Primetime, Digger (optimism is lessening but I’ll see it…), Clayface, Wildwood, and DUNESSDAY. We’re seeing Dune 3 that Tuesday and Doomsday on Thursday. Epic. 

There will be more movies but that’s what I have on my list now. Very excited for Resident Evil this weekend. 

TELEVISION

Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Widow’s Bay are probably my two fav TV shows. Widow’s Bay was my fav thing I’ve seen in a long time. Hit all my taste clusters. 

There’s some other stuff I watched but I can’t remember. 

MUSIC - The Barbarians of California. Phoebe Bridgers. That’s the list.

I’ll give you another list at the end of the year. Maybe. Might not have to if nothing gets replaced.

Editor’s Note: I’m watching the Lord of the Rings extended edition right now. I believe the LOTR trilogy is the best trilogy of all time. I’m working towards a trilogy newsletter and it’s going to piss some of you off. like… charley… I’m already sorry for the things I’ll say. 

MUSIC again - Norma Jean’s Redeemer came out 20 years ago. Working on some thoughts about 2004/2005/2006. That’s my ven diagram. The Chariot’s EP. Gutted Phenom came out in ’05. Son I Loved You At Your Darkest was ’05. What a time! 

The Undertaking! Updates: We’re writing. Trying to take our time and make these songs the best they can be. We’ll see. Got asked to play a local show in October. Waiting to hear about that. If not, then we just have our Nov run coming up. Very stoked on the reception of that. Now we just need to hope people actually come. I know these updates haven’t been as fun lately, but one of these days we’ll be shooting over a pre-sale link to some vinyl and full merch spread and you’ll be wishing it was just another boring update that didn’t cost you money.
