Toxic Positivity

Went to San Diego Comic Con this weekend. SDCC is awesome. If you ever get a chance, I highly recommend it. 1) San Diego is a very nice city. It was hot this weekend which isn’t the norm but SD is the finest city in America. Don’t you want a reason to visit? 2) SDCC feels like the epicenter for a lot of nerdy stuff and it feels rad to be there. 3) I’m trying to quit my cynical attitude so let’s just enjoy that it’s awesome

(con cons - It’s hot. You spend a lot of money. It’s very crowded. You stand in a lot of lines). 

One of the panels… check that… the only panel*** I went to was “The Ringer-Verse” panel. Ringerverse is the midnight boys and house of r’s joint venture. Great podcast. Very rad to see them in person. They started by encouraging the audience to allow themselves to have toxic positivity - that everything in the world is pointing us towards negativity, bad stuff, sad stuff, cynicism, etc - it’s up to us to have a positive outlook on life. I’ve wrestled with my cynicism in this newsletter and in our discord and in person with many friends, and it was a necessary reminder to just enjoy things. 

Enjoy the things you love. Don’t let other people make you feel bad for it. 

SDCC - took my boys two of the days. went with my mom 3 of the days. saw some friends. bought some pins. I don’t buy many bigger things. bought a Hellboy skateboard deck. bought my daughter a popple. turning towards positivity on a weekend like that is fun. comics are rad. art is rad. movies are rad. tv shows are rad. send me something that you’re toxically positive about.

*** I don’t do Hall H. Not interested in standing in line for four days for an hour panel. 

Til next year. 

BAND - show on Saturday. need to record 12 songs. need to shoot two music videos. need to take new promo photos. new to buy plane tickets for our November shows. need to approve album artwork. need to approve new merch. need to approve new website and merch store. 

very busy. but weird busy. not like show busy. stoked on what we have going on. 

TV SHOWS - Caught up on Nirvana The Band The Show The Movie. Very good. Caught up on MOTU - very bad. House of the Dragon is cool this season. X-Men 97 S2 is blowing my mind every week.

MOVIES - hyped for the new spidey. seeing that on Thursday. Hopefully will report back next week.

MUSIC - I’m really into the Barbarians of California. On repeat over here.
